Two visa questions to answer before you book
A visa run to Cambodia involves two separate checks: entering Cambodia, and coming back into Vietnam.
1. Do you need a Cambodian visa?
Citizens of the nine other ASEAN countries, the Maldives and Seychelles can enter Cambodia without a visa. Almost everyone else, including US, UK, EU, Australian, Russian, Korean and Japanese passport holders, needs one. At Bavet you can use the official Cambodia e-visa, which we arrange before the trip, or get a visa on arrival at the counter and pay in US dollars.
Nationalities that can enter Cambodia visa-free
| Nationality (ordinary passport) | Visa-free stay |
|---|---|

| Indonesia | 30 days |
| Lao PDR | 30 days |

Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, “Visa Exemption between Cambodia and Other Countries”, as of 25 September 2026.
China, temporary pilot: Cambodia announced a trial visa exemption for tourists with passports of the People’s Republic of China, from 15 June to 15 October 2026, for stays of up to 14 days. Check whether it has been extended before you travel.
Other countries such as China, India, Japan, South Korea and Russia appear on the government’s full table only for diplomatic and official passports. With a regular passport you still need a visa. More detail in our Cambodia visa exemption guide.
2. How will you come back into Vietnam?
You need a new Vietnam e-visa that names Moc Bai as the entry gate, or a nationality that is visa-exempt for Vietnam. Moc Bai in Tay Ninh province is on the official e-visa gate list published on evisa.gov.vn. We can apply for the e-visa for you as part of the trip.
A busy crossing: Moc Bai – Bavet is the main road border between Vietnam and Cambodia, with casinos and shops on the Cambodian side. Queues can be long at weekends and holidays, so we plan your arrival time with that in mind.
